Help & FAQ

Everything you need to know about Canonum

Creating Tier Lists

How do I create a tier list?

Click the + button in the sidebar to start the creation wizard. You can:

  • Start from scratch with a blank tier list
  • Use a template from a curated collection of famous ranked lists
  • Customize your tiers — rename labels, change colors, add or remove tiers

Once created, add items to each tier. Press Tab at the end of an item name to quickly add a new item in the same tier.

How do I edit my tier list?

On your tier list's detail page, click Edit in the toolbar. You can:

  • Drag and drop items between tiers
  • Click the + Add Item button to add new items to any tier
  • Click the × button on an item to remove it
  • Type in an item's name to rename it

Remixing

How do I remix someone else's tier list?

On any tier list you didn't create, click the Remix button in the toolbar. This creates a personal copy of the tier list in your account that you can edit however you like.

Your remix links back to the original, and anyone viewing the original can see how many remixes it has.

What happens when I remix a remix?

When you remix a tier list that is itself a remix, your version will show the full lineage — linking back to both the immediate parent and the ultimate original tier list.

Sharing & Profile

How do I share my tier list?

On any tier list page, click the Share button to copy the link to your clipboard. You can also use the Export button to download your tier list as an image.

What is the pin feature?

You can pin up to 5 of your tier lists to feature them prominently on your profile page. Click the Pin button on any tier list you own to add it to your featured section.

Comparing Tier Lists

How do I compare two tier lists?

On any tier list detail page, click the Compare button in the toolbar. You'll be able to select another tier list to compare against — either from the same template or from the same remix chain.

The comparison view shows both rankings side by side, highlighting agreements and disagreements.

What does the agreement percentage mean?

The agreement percentage shows how similarly two people ranked the same items. Items placed in the same tier count as full agreement; items one tier apart count as partial agreement. The bigger the gap, the bigger the disagreement.

Templates & Creation Wizard

What are templates?

Templates are pre-made lists of items for popular topics (e.g., "Best Movies of the 2000s"). Instead of adding items from scratch, you pick a template and start ranking right away.

To use one, click + in the sidebar and select Start from Template in the creation wizard.

Visibility & Privacy

What are the visibility options?
  • Public — Anyone can view, remix, and find it in Explore
  • Shared — Anyone with the link can view it, but it won't appear in Explore or search
  • Private — Only you can see it

You can change visibility at any time from the tier list settings.

Account & Profile

How do I change my username?

Go to Settings (gear icon in the sidebar) and update the username field. Usernames must be 3–30 characters, lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores only.

How do I update my bio or avatar?

On your Settings page, you can write a short bio (up to 160 characters) and upload a profile picture. Supported formats: PNG, JPG, GIF, and WebP (max 2MB).
